I Got A Scanner
September recap, sketchbook review and October booking<3
I spent the first three weeks of September getting dressed out of my suitcase, and the last week sick in bed back in nyc.
This is the first October in two years where I’m not living out of that suitcase. Last year I was visiting family in Tokyo and Los Angeles. The year before that, I was sharing a 1.5 month sublet in Bed-Stuy with a charismatic and kind of insane British-Japanese architect. He asked if I wanted to stay longer but I had to get back to LA for a risograph workshop I impulse purchased.
I always draw a lot in Berlin. I brought my entire case of colored pencils this time, and no laptop.
I met some friends, went to my favorite bookstores and out dancing alone.
I treated myself to two magazines. I like to think I’ll have a library to fill some day, even though everything I own is split between my apartment and my parents garage across the country. I’m grateful for the storage but sometimes it feels wasteful and I feel bad for the items. My books that haven’t been picked up and flipped through in two years, all of my glassware waiting patiently for a beverage to hold.
Maybe the best thing to come back with me was a tarot deck I found at the flea market in la plaine. Marseille deck in Marseille.

The colors!! I’m illustrating a deck of playing cards and feeling heavily inspired.
Other things I’m working on:
2026 Calendar!
Horse fan print third edition (getting so many requests for this I hear you)
Larger giclée prints of colored pencil pieces
October NYC Tattoo Booking
In the tattoo realm of things: I’m booking October at Nice Try and I actually would die to do these lilies. I have these and some other new things up in my flash folder. Also taking custom inquiries through email: booking@ayagalgani.studio
Other travel plans:
CHICAGO early November: I still need to post about this but you can early submit a booking form!
LA TBD I will potentially be coming January 2026
In other news, I am splitting an art studio sublet with a friend this month so I’m hoping to get some oil painting in. I also have a nearly 5ft wide colored pencil piece I started before my trip and haven’t touched.
I leave you with a playlist and list of things that feel very October to me:
Jennifer’s Body bar scene (pre-fire)
LA house party (pre-tiktok)
Caroline Polachek french accent
19-69 Chinese Tobacco & unfortunately Margiela Jazz Club also
Beach House entire discog but specifically Thank Your Lucky Stars
See you next month I’ll be posting calendar pre-order link here :)
